Misclassification of Employees as Independent Contractors [Minnesota]

Abstract

This report from the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) examines the problem of worker classification in the state of Minnesota. The authors studied the extent to which employers are misclassified as independent contractors and the state's efforts to enforce worker misclassification laws. Based on the findings of their research, the authors recommend a coordinated approach to the enforcement of worker misclassification laws and increased standardization of the criteria used to determine worker status.
