Identity Theft: #1 Complaint 15 Consecutive Years

Abstract

This report presents a review of identity theft data provided in the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)'s 2014 Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book. The authors pay special attention to the states where the volume of complaints indicates most and least impacted populations. The authors review the types of identity theft experienced in these states and the questions brought to the surface by this data and potential responses.
