Abstract
The article discusses the emergence of workforce ecosystems and the increasing role of artificial intelligence (AI) within these ecosystems. Workforce ecosystems involve a diverse array of participants, including contractors, gig workers, professional service firms, complementor organizations, and AI technologies. The use of AI is changing the design, supply, conduct, and measurement of work and workers within these ecosystems. The article highlights the policy implications of AI and workforce ecosystems, including issues of work and worker flexibility, equity, and data governance and transparency. It emphasizes the need for policymakers to consider the impact of AI on organizational and governance structures, as well as its influence on work, workers, and management practices.
