New Jersey Established Artificial Intelligence Task Force

Abstract

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has established an Artificial Intelligence Task Force through an executive order, with the goal of studying the societal impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) and recommending ways for the state government to encourage ethical and responsible AI usage. The task force, led by key state officials and including public and private-sector experts, will assess AI's potential impacts on government services and economic growth while ensuring protection of individual and civil rights. The executive order also mandates various departments to explore AI's benefits and responsible use, including assessing tools for improving government services, creating staff training programs, and reviewing AI as a research opportunity for universities.
