Abstract
In today's digital landscape, governments often appear technologically outdated, relying on antiquated paper-based systems and outdated programming languages. In contrast, the private sector has raised the bar for customer service and rapid response, spurring a desire among citizens for similar digital experiences from their local governments. Despite the challenges posed by legacy technology and limited resources, communities across the nation are rising to the occasion. They are leveraging streamlined data processes to enhance the well-being of vulnerable populations, such as the homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals. Moreover, emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are facilitating better public interaction with city services and government entities. While these initiatives are not yet fully scaled, they hold significant potential to improve the daily lives of residents. This e-book from Route Fifty introduces readers to these innovative solutions and the dedicated state and local leaders driving these efforts forward.
