The 2023 State CIO Survey: The Force of Automation and the Reality of Modernization

Abstract

In this survey, 49 state and territory Chief Information officers (CIOs) were asked questions on topics like cybersecurity, emerging technology, cloud services, legacy modernization and data management. Questions about workforce were not segmented into an individual section but were rather sprinkled throughougt the survey. Workforce challenges continue to be on the top of mind of every state CIO. States� ability to deliver services currently and in the future is heavily dependent on getting the right people with the right skills and the right number of those folks.
