Rhode Island Executive Order 24-06: Artificial Intelligence and Data Centers of Excellence

Abstract

Governor Dan McKee of Rhode Island has issued Executive Order 24-06, outlining guidelines for the ethical and transparent adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Centers of Excellence within state government operations. The order mandates the establishment of a robust data governance structure, transparent data sharing, and the appointment of a Chief Data Officer (CDO) to oversee data-related activities. It also establishes an AI Task Force to assess AI risks and opportunities and recommends AI training for state workers, private-sector employees, and higher education curriculums.
