Behavioral Analytics Help Save Unemployment Insurance Funds
Abstract
This publication explores New Mexico's Department of Workforce Solutions (DWS) modernization and integration of two data systems which it then used to analyze unemployment insurance (UI) data. This analysis was conducted to provide insight into where in the claims process people were submitting misinformation. Behavioral analytics has allowed the state to improve its overall claims process and reduce unemployment overpayments, including fraudulent claims, saving the state millions of dollars
